Eureka Springs School Newsletter 3-29-10

Great News:  The design and engineering work for the new high school is making good progress and we all look forward to moving into a beautiful new facility in the spring of 2012.

Note about safety and security:  Please be aware that all doors will be locked at all times at the elementary and middle schools except for the front doors.  Also, always check in at the office and obtain a visitors pass before entering the hallways of our schools.  We want to keep our students safe and secure, so please help us with this effort.  We would like to reestablish our Dads on Guard organizations for each of the schools.  If you might be interested in this duty, please contact the building principals.

20th Annual Kite Festival March 27th

images/stories/kites.jpgIn spring a young man’s fancy turns to thoughts of, among other things, kite flying!  It’s fortunate, then that the 20th Annual Eureka Springs Kite Festival is set for March 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The large ridge at the front of the grounds of Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, 7 miles south of Eureka Springs on AR 23, provides the venue once again this year. There is no charge to attend the Kite Festival. Those who donate one dollar to Turpentine Creek, however, are eligible to win a great new kite.

Each year past participants gather to share stories and show off their new or champion kites, while other festival-goers simply love the feel of launching an honest, old-fashioned, hand-built kite. Cameras are highly recommended. All kites are welcome, and there will be an area for “Kite Making For Kids” (by donation.)
