Man Dies Crossing Indian Creek

A Carroll County man died early Friday, after trying to negotiate a low water bridge in high water at Indian Creek, north of Berryville.

Carroll County Sheriff Bob Grudek told KTHS Friday, the accident happened around 1:30am, when Homer Dotts, who lived nearby on CR 4202, off of 420, drove his pickup truck into Indian Creek, in an attempt to cross it.  Officials speculate Dotts did not see a large tree that had fallen into the Creek and a large branch from the tree, went right through the windshield, striking Dotts in the head and neck area.

His body was discovered when a passerby noticed the truck in the water and called authorities.  The responding Carroll County deputy waded across the creek to the truck and found Mr. Dotts deceased from his injuries.  Rescue personnel had to extract Mr. Dotts from the truck.
