One local community is in shock after a grisly discovery. The Benton County Sheriff's Office arrested Clifford Dale Casteel, of Rogers, and Timothy Sylvester Howell, of Fayetteville Friday, night in connection with the discovery of the body of a 54-year-old man. Deputies said the body could be that of Billy Ray Buckley, whose last address was in Oklahoma.
He was reported missing from Rogers earlier this month, where deputies said he may have been killed. The body was discovered dumped in the Monte Ne area. The body will have to be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock before anything can be confirmed. In the meantime, Clifford Dale Casteel has been charged with second degree murder and Timothy Sylvester Howell with hindering apprehension of prosecution.
A Missouri man, visiting relatives in the area, was killed Sunday, South of Eureka Springs on Hwy. 23, near Turpentine Creek.
According to Arkansas State Police, Forrest K. Brown, 74, of Nevada, Mo., was northbound on ‘23’ Sunday around 2:45pm, when a Southbound 1999 Dodge, being driven by 22 year old Jesse J. Rusch of Eureka Springs, crossed the center line and struck Brown’s BMW motorcycle head-on.
The Dodge Ram rolled over several times after the collision. Rusch was transported to St. John’s Hospital.
A Huntsville man has been charged with “negligent homicide” in the death of his wife August 1st, east of Green Forest.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Circuit Court last week, Johnnie Ray Walker, 62, allegedly had a blood alcohol content above the legal limit, when the accident happened, August 1st, just inside the Green Forest City limits.
Walker was driving a Chevrolet Chevette when the vehicle went out of control, and slid into a tree on the passenger side.
Walker’s wife, Lucy Walker, was transported from the scene with serious injuries and later passed away. Officers said Walker agreed to have blood drawn at the hospital, which came back .11, above the legal limit of .08. Walker admitted to having several beers. After hearing Thursday that there was a possible case of H1N1 (Swine Flu) in the Berryville School System, KTHS called Sherri Plumlee, Director of the Carroll County Health Unit, to see if it could be confirmed or denied.
Because of the HIPPA law that protects a patient’s privacy, very little information could be expected to be learned from Health officials.
However, Plumlee did tell KTHS this. Yes, there are absences from the Berryville Schools due to flu-like symptoms, similar to the seasonal Type A influenza. H1N1 is a novel Type A influenza, however, Plumlee wanted it known that, so far, there have been “no confirmed cases of Swine Flu in Carroll County schools". Plumlee went on to say that the Green Forest School District also has absences of children with flu-like symptoms.
Plumlee said the State Health Department urges parents to keep children at home if they exhibit even the slightest flu-like symptom such as a fever of more than 100 degrees, cough, sore throat, body aches, headaches or vomiting, nausea or diarrhea.
Right now, the best thing to do is teach your children the importance of hand-washing with warm soapy water and an alcohol-based hand sanitizer is also a good idea. It also goes without saying, children should stay away form other kids who are ill, even siblings, so they don’t catch the flu. Also they should be instructed to cover their mouths and noses with a tissue when they sneeze or cough, just good hygiene.
